"The Science of Happiness"...

Many universities worldwide are running courses, such as Berkeley California University's extremely popular "The Science of Happiness" online course, and closer to home, Bangor University in Wales has a world- leading centre for learning about mindfulness.  Aberdeen University in Scotland, and many others including Exeter University in England also have well-established mindfulness programs.


Science has confirmed much of what we know instinctively, but has also come up with some surprising findings too.  Much of the thousands of years of ancient wisdom stands up to close scrutiny, and many of the findings have been shown to be true across different cultures.

It seems that beyond the basics of food and shelter, the two things we all need most to be happy are a close, supportive network of family &/or friends (We are social animals!), and we need a sense of purpose.  (We are high level thinkers!)
